Martin Sparrow is an xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam Elder who has been practicing traditional carving techniques for many years. He is an expert in creating beautiful and intricate carvings, including house posts and spindle whorls. Under Martin's guidance, participants in his carving workshops will learn the history and cultural significance of these traditional artifacts, as well as the techniques and tools used to create them. With patience and guidance, Martin will help participants create their own unique and meaningful carvings. In addition to sharing his skills and knowledge, Martin is also a master storyteller and loves to share stories and teachings from his culture with others. By participating in a workshop with Martin, you will not only learn a new skill, but also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture.
